Thirst-Aid inspires the drive for safe drinking water to come from within populations through education, social marketing and the introduction of applicable technology.

Thirst-Aid and our partners are working together to meet the United Nations Millennium Development goal for safe water in Myanmar/Burma.  Inspired by the Millennium goal to halve, by 2015, the proportion of the world’s population without sustainable access to safe drinking-water Thirst-Aid developed an Education First- Point-Of-Use water treatment intervention that will be effective on a global scale.

In a world where a child dies every 15 seconds from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene, Thirst-Aid's goal is to make knowledge of household water treatment and proper hygiene as common as how to cook rice or fry an egg.

One of every five children under the age of five is destined to die from a waterborne illness. Thirst-Aid is dedicated to using our technical expertise to help change that statistic.

Thirst-Aid's grassroots approach of introducing applicable technology that not only produces effective and affordable water filters but also serves as an income generation program has won the approval of many
international organizations.

Thirst-Aid promotes education and knowledge as the principal tools for safe-water intervention, inspiring the drive for improved water quality to come from within the community prior to the introduction of
safe-water technologies.

Thirst-Aid provides the currency for community buy-in by issuing Certificates of Knowledge upon successful completion of the educational program.  These certificates serve as legal tender that can be later used for the purchase of safe-water technologies.
